Challenger Lifts RJ6 Rolling Jack — 6,000 lbs, and it takes both your hands to move it Buried in the feature list for the RJ6 is a design decision worth reading twice: two-hand use ensures technician safety. It means the controls are arranged so that raising or lowering the jack occupies both of a technician's hands. There is no way to be operating this jack and have a hand under the load at the same time. Plenty of shop equipment is sold on what it can lift; this is a piece sold partly on what it stops you doing while it lifts, and after enough years around workshops that reads as the more valuable claim. The rest is straightforward. The RJ6 is a 6,000 lbs air-over-hydraulic rolling jack that rides the accessory rail built into a four-post lift's runways, raising a wheel or an axle clear of the runway so that the wheels can come off a vehicle that is already in the air. What a rolling jack is actually for A four-post lift is superb at getting a whole car up and holding it there, and useless the moment you want a wheel off — the vehicle is sitting on its tyres, on the runways. The traditional answer is a bottle jack balanced on the runway, which is awkward, slow and precisely the sort of improvisation that ends badly at working height. A rolling jack removes the improvisation. It rolls along the runway rail to the axle or lift point you want, raises that end of the vehicle off the runway, and holds it while you work. Brake jobs, tyre changes, hub and bearing work, suspension inspection — all the jobs a four-post cannot do on its own become ordinary. Challenger's own framing is that a rolling jack is what lets a shop take full advantage of a four-post lift, and that is a fair description of the difference it makes. Air over hydraulic, which means you need shop air The RJ6 is an air/hydraulic jack: shop air drives a pump that moves hydraulic fluid, so there is no hand pumping and no electrical connection at the jack. The lifting is smooth and quick, and the jack has no cord to route along a moving runway. The consequence is worth flagging before you order, because it catches people out. Many four-post lifts — including Challenger's own home storage range — are specified as needing no compressed air to operate, which is one of their attractions in a domestic garage. Adding a rolling jack changes that. If you do not have a compressor and a line reaching the lift, this accessory brings that requirement with it. Anyone fitting one out at home should budget for the air supply alongside the jack. Adjustable width, and adapters that reach the right places The RJ6 has an adjustable width. That is not a convenience feature — it is what allows the same jack to sit correctly under a narrow saloon and a wide-track pickup without the saddles ending up somewhere the manufacturer never intended you to lift. Challenger supplies adapters with this range specifically so that you can reach a vehicle's designated pick-up points. Modern vehicles are increasingly fussy about where they may be lifted — pinch welds, reinforced pads, plastic underbody trays — and a jack that can only reach one height and one width will eventually be used somewhere it should not be. Adapters and adjustable width are how you avoid that. The jack is also low-profile, with adjustable heights, so that when it is not in use it can be left on the rail without becoming an obstacle underneath the vehicle you are working on. Before you order: two things to check Your lift's rail. A rolling jack mounts to the accessory rail system built into a four-post lift's runways. Confirm your lift has that rail and that this jack is the correct one for it — send us your lift's model number and we will check it against this jack before you buy. Your air supply. A compressor and a line that reaches the lift. Without it the jack will not operate. Note also that Challenger's own copy describes installing a pair of rolling jacks. A pair is what lets you lift the front and the rear independently, and it is worth deciding at the outset whether you are buying one or two. Perfect For Any shop already running a four-post lift that keeps reaching for a bottle jack. Tyre and brake work, which is where a rolling jack pays for itself fastest. Home garages with a four-post and a compressor already installed. Storage lifts doing occasional service work, where the rail was fitted for exactly this purpose. What's in the Box The RJ6 rolling jack with its air/hydraulic operating system, adjustable-width frame and the adapters Challenger supplies for reaching vehicle pick-up points. Rolling jacks are typically bought in pairs but are sold individually; check the quantity on your order. If a specific adapter or a rail kit matters to your installation, ask us to confirm it in writing before you order rather than assuming it is in the crate. Specifications Specification RJ6 Capacity 6,000 lbs Operation Air over hydraulic Controls Two-hand use Width Adjustable Height Adjustable, low profile Mounting Four-post lift accessory rail Adapters Included, for vehicle pick-up points Challenger's data for the RJ6 does not publish dimensions, a minimum saddle height or a weight, so none are printed here. We would rather show you a short table that is right than a long one that is guessed. If a physical dimension is decisive for your installation, ask and we will obtain it from the manufacturer. Certification — being straight about it Our product data for the RJ6 does not record an independent third-party safety listing for this jack, and we are not going to imply one that is not claimed. Some products in our range do carry that documentation and their pages say so directly. What that means in practice: an independent listing is a separate body testing equipment against a published standard, and certain insurers, fleet policies and local jurisdictions ask for it by name on lifting equipment. If your site is subject to any of those, tell us before you order and we will establish the current documentation position for this jack in writing. If it is not, this is not a mark against the product — but it should be your decision made knowingly rather than one made for you by a page that stayed quiet. Shipping and delivery This item ships by freight within the lower 48 states, with the cost calculated live at checkout for your address. A rolling jack is heavy and awkward rather than merely large. Have a means of getting it off the truck, or choose to collect from the carrier's terminal. Residential delivery addresses carry a residential fee. Inspect it before you sign. Look the shipment over while the driver is present and write any damage or missing item onto the bill of lading before signing. A clean signature is a statement that everything arrived in order, and it is difficult to argue with afterwards. Warranty Warranty is under Challenger's published terms, and our claims route is at mechanicsuperstore.com/pages/warranty-claims. The data we hold for the RJ6 does not state a warranty duration, so we have not printed one — ask and we will confirm the current term in writing. If the jack develops a fault, take it out of service and contact us before dismantling it. A hydraulic unit that has already been opened is very hard to have accepted as a claim, and clear photographs of the fault as found are the most useful thing you can send us.
