18W UV Lamp Power Supply The Atlantic Water Gardens Vitronic 18 ballast and UVC transformer (part 35839) is the replacement electronic power supply for the Oase Vitronic 18W inline UV clarifier. When the Vitronic 18 fails to illuminate the UV lamp — despite the pump running and the plumbing being fully intact — a failed ballast is the most common cause. This genuine OEM ballast replacement restores UV output quickly without replacing the full UV head assembly. Electronic Ballast for 18W UV Operation The 18W UV lamp in the Vitronic requires specific starting and operating conditions that standard electrical supply cannot provide directly. The electronic ballast provides the high-voltage starting pulse and then regulates current to maintain consistent UV output at 254nm — the wavelength effective against green water algae, blanket weed spores, and bacterial pathogens. A failed ballast produces no UV output whatsoever, leaving pond water unprotected despite the filter running normally. This OEM replacement is matched to the Vitronic 18 lamp and housing specifications. Compatible With Oase Vitronic 18W UV clarifier Part Number 35839 Component Electronic ballast / UVC transformer UV Lamp Power 18W Part Type Genuine Atlantic/Oase OEM How to Replace Disconnect all power from the Vitronic UV unit. Access the ballast housing per the Vitronic 18 service documentation. Disconnect the ballast from the lamp and input wiring. Install the new ballast, reconnect all wiring, and restore power. Confirm UV lamp illumination (blue-violet glow through the quartz sleeve). Replace the UV lamp simultaneously if it has not been replaced within the past 12 months. Ideal for maintaining Oase Vitronic 18W UV clarifiers in Canadian pond filter systems.
