Replacement Aeration Fitting for Surface Skimmer The Atlantic Water Gardens SwimSkim air distributor is the replacement aeration component for Oase SwimSkim surface skimmers equipped with an integrated aeration function. The air distributor connects to an external air pump or aeration system, introducing fine bubbles directly through the SwimSkim to simultaneously skim the surface and aerate the water around the skimmer intake — a dual-function approach particularly valuable in warmer Canadian summer conditions when oxygen demand is highest. Integrated Surface Aeration The SwimSkim's air distributor creates a ring of fine bubbles around the skimmer intake that serves two purposes: it draws surface film toward the intake through the upward water movement of rising bubbles, enhancing debris collection, and it adds dissolved oxygen directly to the surface layer where fish spend most of their time. When the air distributor becomes clogged with algae or mineral scale — which happens as small-diameter orifices become progressively blocked — airflow drops and both the aeration and skimming effects are reduced. Replacement restores both functions simultaneously. Compatible Skimmer Oase SwimSkim surface skimmer (air-equipped models) Component Air distributor / aeration ring fitting Function Delivers fine-bubble aeration through the SwimSkim Connection Standard 3/8" airline tubing barb Part Type Genuine Atlantic/Oase OEM How to Replace Remove the SwimSkim from the pond and disconnect the airline tubing. Access the air distributor fitting and remove it from the housing. Install the new distributor, confirming the airline barb faces the correct direction for reconnection. Return the SwimSkim to the pond, reconnect the airline, and confirm uniform bubble distribution around the skimmer intake at normal air pump output. Ideal for maintaining SwimSkim aeration functionality in Canadian koi ponds and water gardens through warm summer months.
