The spring is engineered to never contact the inner wall of the buffer tube — silent operation, reduced felt recoil, and consistent spring tension through high round counts. One unit drops in where your buffer and spring used to be. At 6.4oz equivalent weight the SRS-9 is the right mass for 9mm FRT builds, PCC active reset setups, and any 9mm platform where cycle control and consistency matter. ⚠ 9mm Bolt Carrier Note — Read Before Installing For proper function of the SRS-9 in your 9mm rifle or pistol, the extra weight on the back of the 9mm bolt carrier must be removed prior to installation. It is held in with a spring pin and can be removed with a punch. This step is required — failure to remove it will prevent the SRS-9 from functioning correctly. Standard 9mm bolt carriers without this extra weight require no modification. FRT & PCC Active Reset Builds The SRS GEN4 9mm at 6.4oz equivalent weight provides the mass needed for reliable forced reset trigger and active reset function in 9mm AR-9 and PCC builds. The silent captured system maintains consistent spring tension through high-cyclic-rate fire, improving FRT reset timing consistency over long strings. Compatible with the Kabuto FRT Metal Ambi Selector in PCC configurations. How It Works The SRS is a multi-stage system — the spring rides on an internal rod and never contacts the buffer tube wall. The buffer mass stays under constant tension against the bolt carrier throughout the cycling stroke. The second stage activates at the rear of travel, reducing felt recoil impulse. The whole system drops in as one unit. Features Silent operation — spring never contacts inner wall of buffer tube. Eliminates the spring-scrape noise on every cycling stroke Multi-stage recoil reduction — second stage activates at rear of travel, significantly reducing felt recoil impulse Buffer mass under constant tension — stays in contact with the bolt carrier throughout the cycling stroke for consistent timing Drop-in installation — replaces your standard buffer and spring as one self-contained unit. No gunsmithing, no modification to the buffer tube 6.4oz equivalent weight — purpose-built mass for 9mm AR-9 and PCC platforms GEN4 improvements — roll pin replaces screw on end piece, machined cap replaces snap ring, no O-ring on weight. Fewer potential failure points than previous generations Lifetime warranty 100% USA made Specs System Type Multi-stage drop-in — buffer and spring self-contained Equivalent Weight 6.4oz (9MM) Actual Weight (Complete) 9.5oz Length 7.18" Platform AR-9, PCC — carbine-length buffer tube 9mm BCG Requirement Remove extra weight from rear of bolt carrier — held with spring pin Buffer Retainer Compatible with or without — most users run without for easy maintenance GEN4 Changes Roll pin end piece, machined cap, no O-ring on weight Warranty Lifetime SKU ARM253-9MM Country of Origin 100% USA Made Installation 9mm bolt carrier prep — if your bolt carrier has an extra weight on the rear, remove it using a punch to drive out the spring pin before installing the SRS-9 Insert the polymer bumper end (rear) toward the back of the buffer tube Insert the metal weight mass end toward the bolt carrier Function check — cycle the action to verify smooth operation Can be installed with or without the buffer retainer. Most shooters run without for ease of maintenance. Frequently Asked Questions What is the Armaspec SRS GEN4 9mm? A self-contained multi-stage drop-in replacement for your standard buffer and spring in 9mm AR-9 and PCC platforms. The spring never contacts the inner wall of the buffer tube — silent operation and reduced felt recoil. Drops in as one unit where your existing buffer and spring were. Does this require modification to my 9mm bolt carrier? Yes — if your 9mm bolt carrier has an extra weight on the rear, it must be removed before installing the SRS-9. It is held in with a spring pin and can be removed with a punch. This is required for proper function. Standard 9mm bolt carriers without this extra weight require no modification. What platforms does this fit? AR-9 and PCC platforms with carbine-length buffer tubes. For standard AR-15 .223/5.56 builds, see the Armaspec SMB Gen3 H2 or H3 listings. For AR-10 .308 builds, see the Armaspec SRS GEN4 AR-10. Is this good for FRT builds? Yes. At 6.4oz equivalent weight the SRS-9 provides the mass needed for reliable FRT and active reset trigger function in PCC and AR-9 builds. The consistent spring tension from the captured system also improves FRT reset timing consistency through rapid fire strings. Is the SRS made in the USA? Yes. 100% USA made, backed by a lifetime warranty.
