Maintain a balanced ecosystem and crystal-clear water with the Aquascape 2-Outlet Pond Aeration Kit. Designed for ponds up to 2,000 gallons, this energy-efficient system addresses the most critical component of pond life: dissolved oxygen. Why Your Pond Needs Aeration Every biological process in your water feature depends on oxygen. A lack of circulation can lead to stagnant water, algae blooms, and fish stress. This kit provides a vital solution for two specific DIY scenarios: Summer Oxygen Depletion: In warmer temperatures, water holds less oxygen. Furthermore, aquatic plants stop producing oxygen at night and begin consuming it. This kit ensures your fish have the oxygen they need 24/7. Winter De-Icing: During freezing months, the bubbles created by the aeration discs keep a small hole open in the ice. This allows toxic gases (from decomposing waste) to escape, preventing winter fish kill. Crucial Winter Setup Tip Don't super-cool your pond water! When using this aeration kit during freezing months to keep an opening in the ice (as shown in the diagram below), it is vital to adjust the depth of your air stones. DIY Expert Note: During winter months, you must move the aeration discs up to a 2-foot maximum depth, or half the distance from the bottom of the pond. Leaving them at the very bottom during winter will mix the slightly warmer, deep water with the freezing surface water, which can be detrimental to hibernating fish.
