Medium-Density Rigid Filter Mat for Balanced Pond Filtration The Aquascape Medium Density Rigid Filter Mat bridges the gap between coarse mechanical and biological filtration, suitable for mid-stage use in multi-chamber filters or as a single-medium filter mat where one stage must handle both functions. It captures mid-size particles while supporting beneficial bacterial colonisation on its porous foam surface. Versatile Mid-Stage Media for General Pond Filtration Where pond load is moderate and a three-stage setup is not practical, the medium-density mat handles both roles adequately. It captures more fine particulate than low-density foam while providing better bacterial surface area than high-density. In a two-mat setup, pair it with a high-density coarse mat upstream and a low-density bio mat downstream for a complete three-stage system in a standard two-chamber housing. Spec Value Density Medium (combined mechanical/biological) Form Rigid foam panel Compatible With Aquascape biofilter and waterfall filter housings Safe For Koi, goldfish, aquatic wildlife How to Use Place mid-stream in the filter housing, after any coarse pre-filter media. Rinse every 3 to 5 weeks in pond water to clear accumulated solids. Avoid tap water to preserve beneficial bacteria. Replace annually or when the mat compresses permanently. Ideal for moderate-load ponds where a single versatile filter mat handles both particle capture and bacterial support, or as the middle stage in a full three-media filter setup.
