30mm Drainage Cell for Rain Gardens and Subsurface Water Management The Aquascape Flo-cell 30mm Drainage Cell is a rigid, interlocking plastic cell used to create subsurface detention and drainage layers in rain gardens, bioretention systems, and green infrastructure features. Each panel provides a structural void space beneath soil or growing media, allowing water to collect and infiltrate slowly rather than running off the surface. How Flo-cells Support Water Management Features Rain gardens and bioretention features rely on a structured drainage layer beneath the planting zone to hold water during storm events and release it gradually to the soil below. Flo-cell panels stack and interlock to create a stable, load-bearing void that supports the growing media above without collapsing under saturated conditions. The open-cell structure allows water to flow laterally as well as vertically, maximising the usable storage volume in a constrained footprint. Specification Value Cell Depth 30 mm (1.2 in) Material Recycled polypropylene Configuration Interlocking panel system Application Rain gardens, bioretention, subsurface drainage Load Bearing Pedestrian and light vehicle rated How to Use Excavate the rain garden basin to the required depth, allowing for the Flo-cell layer, filter fabric, growing media, and mulch above. Line the excavation with filter fabric before placing the Flo-cell panels to prevent soil migration into the void space. Interlock panels to cover the full base area. Wrap the top surface of the completed panel layer with filter fabric before backfilling with growing media. Install an overflow pipe or connection to the storm system at the appropriate elevation for the project. Ideal for residential and commercial rain garden installations, green roof drainage layers, and bioretention cells where managed subsurface water detention is required.
