Build a Complete Fountain Around an 18-Inch Slate Sphere The Aquascape Extra Small Stacked Slate Sphere 18-inch Fountain Kit includes the stacked slate sphere (46 cm / 18 in), a submersible pump, basin, and installation hardware needed to build a complete self-contained water fountain feature. Water pumped up through the centre of the sphere bubbles gently over the surface and returns to the basin below, creating continuous gentle water movement with no open water surface and minimal maintenance. A Self-Contained Fountain With No Open Water Basin Fountain kits built around a reservoir concealed below grade have no accessible open water surface, making them safe around children and wildlife while still providing the sound and visual benefit of moving water. The slate sphere style is one of the most popular water feature forms in residential gardens because it blends naturally with stone and planting beds. The kit format eliminates compatibility guesswork by pairing all components to function together from the first installation. Specification Value Sphere Size 46 cm (18 in) Kit Contents Stacked slate resin sphere, submersible pump, basin, hardware Water Feature Type Pondless bubbling fountain (no open water surface) Installation Partially below grade, basin buried under decorative stone How to Use Excavate a hole for the basin in the chosen location. Place the basin, install the pump inside it, and route the pump tube up through the sphere's centre hole. Set the sphere on the basin grate and cover the surrounding area with decorative stone to conceal the basin and pump. Fill the basin with water until the pump is fully submerged. Plug the pump into a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet and adjust the flow rate to produce a gentle bubbling surface effect rather than a strong jet. Top up the basin with water as evaporation occurs. Ideal for garden beds, patio corners, and entryway displays where a natural-looking water feature is desired without a full pond excavation or open water basin.
