Gold-tone hardware given an antiqued rather than bright finish, which changes the whole register of the piece - instead of reading as new and polished, it reads as something that has been around. Set against deep Nanhong red, the effect is closer to an heirloom than a contemporary bracelet. Nanhong red agate beads with antique gold-tone hardware Aged rather than bright metal finish Warm, muted overall palette Reads vintage without being a reproduction Mid-to-upper material tier Antique finish versus polished A bright gold finish reflects and draws the eye to the metal; an antiqued finish absorbs, keeping attention on the stone. If you want hardware in the piece but do not want it to be the first thing anyone notices, the antiqued version is the right choice - our polished gold-tone piece is the alternative. Style and care Suits earth tones, olive, brown leather, and vintage-leaning wardrobes. Keep lotion and perfume away from both stone and metal - antiqued finishes are the most sensitive to cosmetic residue. Routine in the Nanhong care guide. Common questions Will the antique finish wear off? An antiqued finish is applied to the surface, so keeping cosmetics and abrasives away from it is what preserves it. Gentle dry-cloth cleaning only. Is this hardware solid gold? It is antique gold-tone hardware; the material value in the piece sits in the Nanhong beads. Does it suit an older recipient? It is one of our most-chosen pieces for parents - see the gift guide for mom.
