This design ensures both flexibility for mounting on curved surfaces and exceptional resistance to environmental factors. The panel's ultra-thin profile and lightweight nature make it an ideal choice where space and weight are critical considerations, such as on vehicle roofs or boat decks. A key feature is its textured surface, which is engineered to significantly reduce light reflection. This innovative design helps to maximise energy absorption, leading to improved performance even in low-light conditions, overcast skies, or when the sun's angle is not optimal. The panel is also designed with soft, sealed edges to enhance resilience against mechanical impacts and prevent long-term delamination, ensuring a longer operational lifespan. Typical Applications Application Description Boats & Marine Vessels High resistance to saltwater and a fully sealed design make it ideal for charging 12V batteries on yachts, sailing boats, and other marine applications. Caravans & Motorhomes Perfect for mounting on curved caravan or motorhome roofs, providing auxiliary power for leisure batteries. RVs & Campervans Lightweight and flexible, suitable for discreet and efficient power generation on recreational vehicles. Off-Grid & Remote Power Can be used for various off-grid installations where a lightweight, durable, and flexible power source is required. Built-In Protection & Durability This Photonic Universe solar panel is built for resilience and long-term performance. It features a robust fibreglass-reinforced plastic construction and is designed to be highly resistant to saltwater, making it suitable for marine environments. The panel is fully sealed and waterproof, ensuring reliable operation in various weather conditions. Furthermore, the product is IEC certified, indicating compliance with international safety and performance standards. Common Questions Does this solar panel require a charge controller? Yes, a solar charge controller is essential to safely regulate the voltage and current from the panel to your 12V battery, preventing overcharging and damage. This panel cannot be connected directly to a battery. How flexible is this semi-flexible panel? The panel is designed to be semi-flexible, allowing it to conform to gentle curves on surfaces like boat decks or vehicle roofs. It is not designed to be bent sharply or repeatedly, as this could damage the cells. Can I install this panel using screws instead of the adhesive? While the panel features a strong self-adhesive backing for easy installation, it can also be secured using screws, fasteners, or zipping (not included) for additional security, especially in high-vibration or exposed environments. Is this panel suitable for marine environments? Yes, the panel is specifically designed with high resistance to saltwater and a fully sealed, waterproof construction, making it highly suitable for marine applications. Installation Notes Ensure the mounting surface is clean, dry, and free from grease before applying the self-adhesive backing. For permanent installations or high-vibration environments, consider additional mechanical fasteners (screws, bolts, or zipping) for enhanced security. Allow for adequate ventilation around the panel to prevent overheating and ensure optimal performance. Connect the panel to a suitable solar charge controller before connecting to a battery. Follow the detailed instructions provided with your solar charge controller for correct wiring and system setup. Before You Buy Verify the panel's dimensions (1434 x 699 x 2 mm) against your intended mounting area. Confirm your system requires a 160W panel and is compatible with a 12V nominal output. Ensure you have a suitable solar charge controller for your battery type and system voltage. Consider the total power requirements of your appliances to ensure this panel meets your energy needs. Consult a qualified installer if you are unsure about any aspect of system design or installation. Please verify all specifications and compatibility requirements before purchase. Solar cell output is guaranteed for 10 years (90%) and 25 years (80%) by the cell manufacturer. The product itself carries a 2-year workmanship warranty.
